Brier Island Backpackers Accommodation Print E-mail

Waterfront Deck at the Brier Island HostelThis backpackers hostel offers a taste of true island living. With most of Brier Island being a nature preserve, hiking along the coastline is simply amazing. You can spend the day hiking around the island. There’s a good chance you’ll see bald eagles fly over your head, whales while you’re resting on the rocks, or seals while you’re sitting on a beach with nobody else in sight.

"This Island Paradise is a natural and cultural treasure and should definitely be part of your trip through Nova Scotia"

Top 3 of things to do:

  1. Go whale watching. Brier Island is called 'The Whale Watching Capital of Nova Scotia' for good reason!
  2. Take a day to hike the island, it is truly hiking paradise. The trail will lead you all around the island with beautiful ocean vistas, possible sights of the local seal population, isolated beaches, a chance to see the bald eagles that have made the island their home, and so much more....
  3. Enjoy home-made seafood chowder or a fresh lobster dinner, with lobster straight from one of the many local fishing boats. There is a great little cafe right across from the hostel or you can take the little ferry across to Freeport and pay a visit to Lavena's Catch and Cafe.

Facilities at the Brier Island Hostel:

  • Comfortable common room with fully equipped kitchen
  • Comfortable beds in dorm rooms
