Located right in Yarmouth near the ferry terminal, this backpackers hostel is a great starting point for discovering the area. Yarmouth has some interesting museums, like the fire fighting museum or the Laurence Sweeney Fisheries Museum. Further more, the direct Yarmouth area offers some fantastic scenery, all within easy (bicycling) distance from town. Being the starting point of TWO scenic trails, the Yarmouth Area offers some of the most beautiful scenery around.
Top 3 of things to do:
Visit Cape Forchu Lighthouse. Even the ride out to this lighthouse is amazing, the ocean vistas and beauty of the landscape will leave you breathless. On your way, stop at Stanley Lobster for a tour of the lobster plant. Afterwards: pick your own lobster and have it prepared for you on the spot! You can eat it there, bring it with you, or enjoy a lobster picnic on the beach. This is a great daytrip by bicycle or you can take the car of course. (if you have one) Take a tour of the Historical Acadian Village of Nova Scotia in West Pubnico and learn about the Acadians of Nova Scotia and how this unique and colourful culture survived the Deportation of 1755 to continue to thrive to this day. Don't have a car? There are organized tours leaving from Yarmouth, so you don't have to miss this. Take a bicycle ride down to Chebogue Point. This scenic route is a moderate bicycle ride which will keep you busy for most of the day. Enjoy a relaxing picnic on a beautiful isolated beach, and be awestruck by the beautiful views along the way (like Bunker Island).
